WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- With the third pick in 2012 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards select ... ?

There's a great argument for three players Washington potentially could end up with. Florida shooting guard Bradley Beal, Kentucky small forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Kansas power forward Thomas Robinson all have strengths that fit the Wizards.

Since it's apparent that Ted Leonsis reads my stuff, I want to give him and his team three quick-hit pieces of advice, as they begin their final month of scouting.

1) Bradley Beal is a documented leader

His head coach Billy Donovan said Beal understands "team dynamics and chemistry." Wow, that would be a welcome change over current shooting guard Jordan Crawford. I feel like Beal is a player who won't be smiling in the locker room after losses either. Maybe he won't do it right away, but Beal -- more than John Wall -- will hold teammates accountable for mistakes.

2) Michael-Kidd Gilchrist shot 25.5% from downtown in college

It may be annoying to say, but the Wizards have to factor this into the equation. John Wall is a terrible three-point shooter -- he went 3-for-42 last season. Even though we all expect his shot to improve in some way, shape or form, the fact is, you can't have a crunch time lineup with only one capable outside shooter.

3) Don't fall in love with Thomas Robinson's athleticism

For a large portion of the season, the Wizards led the league in dunking and were very high up in the alley-oop rankings. Big deal. Drafting based on athleticism in the past has produced the likes of JaVale McGee, Nick Young, Andray Blatche, and now Jan Vesely. While I do respect Robinson's ferocious boarding capabilities, the Wizards finished only -1.86 in rebounding differential.

I'll have much more on the draft in the coming weeks and I plan on attending the event in Newark on June 28.
