Flushing Meadows, NY (Sports Network) - Rain has been the big winner thus
far on Day 3 of the 2013 U.S. Open.
Third-seeded and defending champion Andy Murray and former winner Juan Martin
del Potro are among those scheduled for opening-round action Wednesday at the
USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The sixth-seeded 2009 champion
del Potro was leading Spaniard Guillermo Garcia-Lopez 2-1 in the first set
before wet weather took over.
The third-seeded Murray is slated to take on veteran French left-hander
Michael Llodra. The reigning Wimbledon and U.S. Open titlist beat Novak
Djokovic in last year's final in Flushing and was a runner-up here in
The lone result so far on the men's side saw former Australian Open runner-up
and former top-10 star Marcos Baghdatis, of Cyprus, drub Japan's Go Soeda,
6-4, 6-3, 6-1.
