ASHBURN, V.A. (WUSA)- Alex Carter is son of former Redskin defensive back Tom Carter, but this humble junior is building his own reputation as a pro student-athlete at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn, Va.
Carter has a 4.1 GPA and is a stand-out defensive back on the Falcons' now 10-2 varsity squad. Carter may come from the bloodlines of a pro athlete, but Carter is is definitely making his own way.
"It's not part of me, I mean it's my dad. He did his thing, I'm just trying to come out and do my own thing," said Carter.
Head coach Charlie Pierce said you would never know that Alex Carter's father was a number one draft pick for the Redskins.
"Alex Carter's special because he's the whole package. He's got a 4.1 GPA, and he's got athletic ability to go along with it," said Pierce.
On Friday night the Falcons defeated Liberty High School of Bealeton, Va. 7-0 in the second round of playoffs. Carter now looks to lead his team to victory in the regional finals against rival Broad Run High School.
