New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise, Toronto
Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel and Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund
have been named the NHL's 'Three Stars' for the period ending Feb. 2.
Parise had five assists among his league-best eight points last week. The
First Star picked up half of his points (2g, 2a) in a 5-4 loss to Colorado on
Thursday, a day before he was named captain of the United States Olympic team.
Kessel earned the Second Star after registering his fifth career hat trick and
collecting four assists for a seven-point week.
The Third Star went to Backlund, who posted multiple points in each of his
three games. He finished with four goals and two assists.
