Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Yankees made it official on Sunday and replaced injured shortstop Derek Jeter with infielder Eduardo Nunez on their ALCS roster.

Jeter suffered a broken left ankle during the 12th inning of Saturday's series opener against Detroit and will not play again this postseason. Nunez, who was part of New York's ALDS roster, had been deactivated prior to the start of the ALCS to add an extra pitcher.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Sunday that Jeter will undergo more tests before a decision on treatment is made.

Jayson Nix will start at shortstop and bat ninth for the Yankees in Game 2 on Sunday. New York dropped a 6-4 decision in the opener of the best-of-seven set.

Alex Rodriguez is also still in the Yankees' lineup, despite his continuing struggles. He was benched for Game 5 of the ALDS against Baltimore after being lifted for a pinch-hitter in the two previous games, then was again replaced by a pinch-hitter on Saturday night after an 0-for-3 performance that included a strikeout with runners on second and third and no outs in the sixth inning.

Rodriguez is batting sixth in a lineup that now features Ichiro Suzuki at the top in Jeter's customary leadoff spot. A struggling Robinson Cano is hitting second.
