Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Fresno State and football coach Tim DeRuyter
have agreed on a five-year contract extension worth $7.5 million, the school
The deal averages $1.5 million per year plus performance-based bonuses the
school anticipates will be between $500,000 and $700,000 each season.
DeRuyter, 51, has a 20-6 record in two seasons coaching the Bulldogs, leading
them to bowl games both seasons.
They were 11-2 this past season and beat Utah State in the inaugural Mountain
West Championship game.
Fresno State athletic director Thomas Boeh said DeRuyter's "extraordinary
success" warranted the contract extension, which will be finalized in the
DeRuyter, who was hired in December of 2011, said it's gratifying to know the
school "is pleased with the direction that the football program is headed and
wants to show its commitment to our future."
