Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Nick Florence threw for 396 yards and three
touchdowns as he guided the Baylor Bears to a 52-45 win in overtime over the
Texas Tech Red Raiders in Big 12 action at Cowboys' Stadium in Arlington,
Florence completed 22-of-37 pass attempts for Baylor (6-5, 3-5 Big 12) which
became bowl eligible with the win. Lache Seastrunk rushed for 136 yards and
Glasco Martin picked up 98 yards and a pair scores, including the game-winner
in overtime. Terrance Williams brought in seven passes for 175 yards and a
touchdown and Lanear Sampson had five receptions for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Seth Doege threw for 359 yards and three touchdowns on 30-of-40 pass but was
intercepted three times for Texas Tech (7-5, 4-5) which was playing its final
game of the regular season. Darrin Moore caught 13 passes for 186 yards and
two scores while Eric Ward brought in nine passes for 113 yards and a
touchdown. Kenny Williams rushed for 89 yards and a score.
Doege scored on a 19-yard touchdown run less than five minutes into the game
to open up the scoring.
The Red Raiders would add to that lead with a five-yard touchdown run from
Kenny Williams later in the quarter.
Baylor got its first points of the game with a one-yard touchdown run from
Martin with 12 seconds left in the first period.
Less than a minute later Texas Tech got into the end zone yet again with a 23-
yard touchdown pass from Doege to Ward.
Florence's first touchdown pass came with five seconds left before halftime on
a 39-yard strike to Levi Norwood.
Texas Tech led 21-14 at the half.
The Red Raiders got a 29-yard field goal from Ryan Bustin to open up the
scoring in the second half.
Later in the third quarter, Florence scored on a four-yard touchdown run to
pull the Bears to within three points, 24-21.
On the ensuing kickoff Jakeem Grant returned the ball 97 yards for a touchdown
to add to Texas Tech's lead.
Baylor answered with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Florrence to Sampson to
keep the score clsoe, 31-28.
Baylor jumped out to its first lead of the game early in the fourth quarter
when Eddie Lackey returned an interception 55 yards for a touchdown.
The Red Raiders reclaimed the lead with a 15-yard pass from Doege to Moore on
its next posession.
Florence answered right back with a four-yard touchdown pass to Williams.
Not to be out done Doege completed a 63-yard drive with a six-yard touchdown
pass to Moore on its next posession.
Florence then took over trailing 45-42 with a little more than six minutes
remaining. Florence drove the team 65 yards but the Bears were forced to
settle for a 22-yard, game-tying field goal from Aaron Jones with more than
two minutes remaining.
Lackey collected another interception on Texas Tech's next posession and
Baylor was able to get to within field goal range. However Jones missed a
48-yard attempt as time expired to send the game to overtime.
Baylor got the ball first and scored on a four-yard touchdown run from Martin.
Texas Tech was unable to answer with Doege's final pass attempt on fourth
and five falling incomplete.
The two teams combined for 1,241 yards of total offense and 13 touchdowns.
