Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Cordarius Johnson scored a game-high 23 points
as he guided the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 68-52 win over the Warhawks of
ULM in non-conference play at the Thomas Assembly Center.
Johnson, who shot 5-of-7 behind the three-point line, also cleared a team-best
eight rebounds for the Bulldogs (5-1), while Raheem Appleby tacked on another
18 points for the hosts as well.
The Warhawks (0-2) were paced by Trent Mackey who tallied 17 points in a
reserve role, followed by Jayon James and R.J. McCray who both dropped 10
points, but also combined for 13 turnovers in the setback.
ULM led by as many as seven points in the first half, yet even with 54.5
percent shooting from the floor in the period the Warhawks were the ones
trailing at the break, 36-28.
In the second half LaTech left the door open with just nine total field goals
in the period, but the Warhawks failed to capitalize as they too made only
nine baskets, en route to the 16-point decision.
The visitors limited their options as they suffered 22 turnovers and shot just
7-of-14 at the free-throw line.
