WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A D.C. police spokesperson says a vehicle was stolen from a parking lot in Northeast D.C. on Tuesday night.
According to the spokesperson, a vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of Engine 10 Truck 13 in the 1300 block of Florida Avenue NE in the Trinidad neighborhood. He said the vehicle was not a fire truck, but probably a firefighter's personal car.
You may remember that the city was trying to use police AND firefighters to deter crime in the neighborhood. Officials thought parking a fire truck on the street might help thwart potential crime. The DC Fire Fighters Association said that keeping a manned truck could slow down their response times to fires. Firefighters said they agree that this area needs help dealing with crime, but believe that help should come in the form of those who are trained to do something about it.
