Robert Scriber charged with second degree sex offense
ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- A man is accused of sexually assaulting a woman after she took medicine and woke up to find her clothing in disarray.
St. Mary's County authorities say on Dec. 29, 2013, officers responded to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital for the report of a woman alleging she had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance.
Detectives determined that she had taken a prescribed medication before retiring for the night, "which rendered her incapacitated," say authorities. When the woman woke up, she says her clothing was in disarray and she believed she had been sexually assaulted by a man who had been a house guest.
Authorities say the woman was treated by a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and later released from the hospital.
According to authorities, detectives confirmed the victim's account of the incident and on Jan. 1, 2014 they arrested 40-year-old Robert Maurice Scriber of Lexington Park, Maryland at an apartment in California, Md.
Scriber was charged with one count of a Second Degree Sex Offense and incarcerated in the detention center.
