MYERSVILLE, Md. (AP) - Frederick County authorities have arrested and charged a man in connection to a fire that destroyed a house in Myersville.
The Frederick News-Post (http://bit.ly/1alevRy ) reports that no one was hurt in the fire Monday afternoon on Clark Road.
Sheriff's Cpl. David Dewees says several people told police they saw a man in a gray hoodie running from the house and then stopping to watch the blaze. Neighbor Audrey Wolfe told the newspaper she saw a man walking toward the house shortly before the fire, carrying what appeared to be a red gas can. Homeowner Lance Kirkpatrick says he discovered on Monday morning that someone had slashed the tires on his wife's car.
Investigators were able to locate the suspect with the helpful information provided by neighbors. Joshua Christian Moore, 18 has been arrested and charged in connection. He has been charged with one count of 1st degree arson and one count of 1st degree malicious burning.
Moore had to be taken to the hospital for an emergency evaluation.
The initial damage is estimated to be at around $250,000.
