Oscar Alexander Orellana was pronounced dead after a head-on collision

SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- Police are investigating an accident that left one person dead this morning in Maryland.

The accident happened around 2:40 a.m. at the 11700 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. When Police arrived at the scene, they found a red 2003 Infiniti G35 and a gray 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe involved in a head-on collision. The front passanger of the Infiniti, Oscar Alexander Orellana, 18 was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Infiniti, Cristian Omar Vargas, 19, and the rear passenger Kyle Robinson, 23, were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Tahoe Edwin Alexander Rivera, 25, was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. 

According to initial evidence,  while the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on Old Columbia Pike, the Infiniti traveling northbound on Old Columbia Pike crossed the center line into the southbound traffic.
