LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County police say they've shut down a counterfeit check operation that was being run out of a motel.
Officers reported to the Red Roof Inn located at 827 Elkridge Landing Road in Linthicum Heights, Md. for the report of counterfeit checks.
Officers responded to a room in the motel and made contact with a male suspect who provided a false name to officers and a fake Illinois driver's license, according to police.
In plain view in the room were computers, document paper, false checks, printers, printer cartridges and torn up checks, police said. The suspect, identified as Victor Kimble, 29, of the 7200 block of South Prairie Ave in Chicago, Ill., invited officers in and provided them with his real name.
A check of the name revealed Kimble was on federal probation and was prohibited from leaving the state of Illinois, police say.
Investigation revealed Kimble had been producing counterfeit checks. he is charged with various counts of forgery, false documents and thefts.
