WASHINGTON (AP) - Forecasters are calling for a second winter storm to hit the Mid-Atlantic region, which will slow efforts to restore power to those affected by snow and ice on Sunday.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch starting late Monday night for areas including the District of Columbia, northern Virginia and central Maryland. The weather service says 5 inches of snow is possible, with the worst of the storm expected during Tuesday's morning commute.

Thousands of people in the region are without power, largely because of ice-coated trees that have fallen or sagged onto power lines. Northern Virginia was particularly hard-hit. Dominion Virginia Power says 62,000 customers still don't have power. Spokesman Dan Genest says customers should prepare for outages lasting multiple days because of the second storm.
