BRUNSWICK. Md. (WUSA9) -- Frederick County police are investigating an officer involved shooting Wednesday night.
It happened at 11 E. B Street in Brunswick, Md. at approximately 10:19 p.m., officials said.
Frederick County Police say they were responding to domestic call when Brunswick Police Officers arrived at the scene and radioed in that there had been an officer involved shooting.
According to initial investigation, the caller who reported the incident said her husband, Charles Dinterman, 56 was intoxicated and breaking things inside the home. When officials arrived, they were met with Dinterman in the hallway. He had a revolver style handgun pointed at Officer McGuire at which point the Officer fired six rounds hitting Dinterman several times. Dinterman was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition, officials said.
There were no Brunswick Police Officers injured, officials said.
The Frederick County Bureau of Investigation and the Frederick County Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs Division will be handling the criminal and internal affairs investigation at the request of the Brunswick City Police.
Officer McGuire is now on 'Paid Administrative Leave' until the investigation is completed.
