CENTREVILLE, Va. (WUSA9) -- A 20-year-old male was killed in a two-car collision Wednesday afternoon in Centreville, Va.
Police say Ronald Matthew Kendrick, of Warrenton, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet pickup truck northbound on Rt. 28 approaching the intersection of Old Centreville road when he proceeded into the intersection against a red light.
Kendrick's vehicle struck a 1996 Ford station wagon, causing the Chevrolet to rotate and flip, police said. Kendrick was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Police said he was transported to a local hospital by Fairfax County police medevac helicopter where he was later pronounced dead.
The station wagon was driven by a 16-year-old Centreville girl. She and another 16-year-old female passenger suffered minor injuries.
Detectives are trying to determine if speed and/or alcohol were factors in the crash, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
