GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA9) -- Anne Arundel County police say a driver is in serious condition after his car crash in Shady Side on Thursday night. Two passengers in his car were not hurt.
Police responded to the crash at northbound Route 468 (Muddy Creek Rd), south of Deale Churchton Rd at approximately 11:43 p.m. They determined that a gray 1995 Jeep Cherokee was travelling north Muddy Creek Rd. when just south of the intersection with Deale Churchton Rd, the vehicle went off of the right side of the roadway and traveled into the grass. Police say the vehicle overturned and began to roll.
The driver, 29-year-old Patirck Grimes was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to police. He sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to MD Shock Trauma by State Police Helicopter, say police. He is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
The front seat passenger and rear passenger were not hurt in this crash.
Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. The primary cause was failure to drive in a single lane.
