WASHINGOTN (WUSA9) -- Medical cannabis dispensary The Metropolitan Wellness Center says the Department of Health gave it a license on Thursday. The center, however, needs patients before it can start dispensing medical marijuana to patients.
MWC is encouraging potential patients to complete an application (online at www.mwcdc.com). Once a patient applies, designates MWC as his/her dispensary, and gets approval from the Department of Health, then he or she can arrange an appointment with MWC.
MWC President Mike Cuthriell posted a message on the dispensary's Facebook page:
"A tremendous amount of effort and time have gotten us to this moment - where we are legally allowed to begin providing cannabis to individuals who need it. All of the dispensaries in Washington D.C., as well as the cultivators, have worked tirelessly the past few years so that we're now complete with the first major chapter of the journey. And so begins the next chapter where we put our heads down and hearts out to get this historic program in motion."
