GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County police confirm an Army recruiter shot himself at his Germantown home in April.

According to police, on April 8, detectives started investigating two deaths at a residence in the 12900 block of Pinnacle Drive in Germantown.  They found 31-year-old Adam Anthony Arndt and 17-year-old Michelle Lynne Miller dead, each from a single gunshot wound.

In June, the Office of the Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death for Adam Arndt as suicide and the cause of death for Michelle Miller as undetermined. Now, the Montgomery County Police Department has classified Arndt's death as suicide and Miller's death as undetermined.

Friends said in April that Arndt and 17-year-old recruit Michelle Miller had some kind of romantic relationship. Miller dreamed of counseling troubled vets and reportedly tried to help Arndt after she received a text from him and believed he may be suicidal.

The star athlete's father apparently said the Rockville High School senior seemed "a little smitten with this guy."

Recruiters are not allowed to socialize or have personal relationships with recruits.
