ASHBURN, Va. (WUSA9) -- Loudoun County sheriff's office authorities say they are investigating after a woman who was on house arrest in Ashburn was found unconscious in her home and later passed away.
According to authorities, 24-year-old Sarena L. Carroll was sentenced on larceny charges and ordered to serve home incarceration. Monday, a deputy went to visit her home in the 442000 block of Big Trail Terrace as scheduled but received no answer when he knocked on her door. Attempts to reach her by telephone also failed.
The deputy contacted the apartment property manager and was let into the apartment, say authorities. There, the deputy found Carroll unconscious. Rescue personnel were called to the home and she was taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital where she later passed away, say authorities.
Authorities say that Carroll had extensive medical issues but her cause of death remains under investigation. There are no signs of foul play, according to authorities.
The Office of the Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy.
