ROSEDALE, Md. (AP/WUSA9) - The Baltimore Police Department released the 911 calls that came in on May 28 after a trash truck and a freight train collided.

A preliminary report on the train derailment in Rosedale says stop signs at a rail grade crossing were faded and displaced, including one that was hung upside down and facing away from the road.

The report by the National Transportation Safety Board was released Wednesday.

The crash between a CSX train and a trash truck caused a derailment, explosion and fire. The report said the explosion damaged buildings as far as a mile away.

The NTSB says the two-track grade crossing where the crash occurred is a passive crossing with no active warning lights or crossing gates. It is marked with crossbuck signs and yellow, nonstandard stop signs.

The report says the driver of the truck, 50-year-old John J. Alban Jr., did not stop at the grade crossing.
