WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Some things should probably go untweeted, especially things like what the District Department of Transportation tweeted Wednesday.
DDOT wrote the following on Twitter: "Thx to everyone who started following us for the Inauguration. We invite you to stick around. We're a train wreck waiting to happen."
They followed the tweet up a few minutes later by writing "Metaphorically speaking", but the original tweet featuring the "train wreck" comment was deleted.
A Reddit user got this screenshot, pictured above, before the tweet vanished.
"It was meant to be self deprecating using a well known expression, but it was a poor choice of words and that's why we deleted it," Monica Hernandez of DDOT said of the tweet. "We did not mean it literally and most people seemed to realize we were not being serious."
Yeah, that tweet probably wasn't the best idea.
We have spoken with DDOT and are currently waiting for a response.
