Routine Traffic Stop Reveals Loaded Gun & Marijuana In Md.

La Plata, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland Police reported a routine traffic violation turned drug bust on Thursday in La Plata, Md.

According to police, an officer stopped a 2003 Honda Accord for a traffic violation when the officer said he noticed suspicious criminal activity, which lead to a K9 Scan on the car.

Officials say a probable search of the car revealed a stash of marijuana and a fully loaded Desert Eagle nine millimeter pistol under the back seat.

Police then did a wanted check of the serial number on the gun that showed the pistol was reported stolen through the Prince George's County Police Department in 2010.

Police arrested 36-year-old David Lee Miller of Upper Marlboro, Md. and charged him with Possession of a Stolen Regulated Firearm by prohibited person, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession w/intent to use Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of a Firearm in a vehicle, and Possession of Marijuana.

A search of Miller's person revealed a large amount of U.S. Currency which was seized as well as additional suspected marihuana.
