FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WUSA) - A woman was injured with at least one gunshot wound to the chest in the 1000 block of Wicklow
Drive at Fall Hill Apartments, according to Fredericksburg Police.
Officers responded to the report of a shooting at about 4 p.m. and found an injured female inside an SUV in the parking lot. The 22-year-old woman from Woodford reported that she
had been shot by her ex-boyfriend inside his apartment before he then shot himself.
The woman walked to the SUV where an adult family member was
waiting along with the woman's 2-year old child. The female's family member called 911.
Police found the ex-boyfriend, a 42-year-old male, with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head. He was unconscious but still breathing, but was pronounced dead at Mary Washington Hospital at about 6:30 p.m. The woman is currently in serious condition.
The man's name will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
The investigation is ongoing.
