LEESBURG, Va. (WUSA)-- More than 200 vultures have taken up residence on tree limbs in the backyards of neighbors along the 200 block Mayfair Drive in Leesburg. They've been there since August, but soon they'll be served with an eviction of sorts.

Leesburg Town officials confirm the U.S. Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services will begin ridding the trees of the vultures beginning Monday. We're told they will be using pyrotechnics, flash bangs, and lasers to spook the vultures away into the wild and out of the residential neighborhood.

Jessica Paulin's backyard trees have been taken over by the vultures. She says sometime they come down from high above in the trees and get close to her and her children.

Paulin said, "they'll be lined up on our deck over here like 20 of them and thats really scary because they're really big when they are close to you."

Her and her husband Brian Paulin tell 9news the birds leave dropping all over their property, and it creates an unbearable odor.

Jessica Paulin said "it's like a strong ammonia...not like anything i've ever smelled before."

The neighbors here say they will be glad to see the vultures leave come next week.
