  • FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- There is a winter weather advisory in effect for areas of Maryland and Virginia.

Our 9 News Delia Goncalves reported live from Frederick, Maryland with the latest on Wednesday morning. (See video above)

Maryland State Highway Administration crews are responding to a wintry mix of snow, freezing rain and sleet across central and western Maryland, say officials. Officials are asking drivers to reduce their speeds and use extreme caution. They also recommend drivers leave extra time for traveling and leave with a full tank of gas.

If your vehicle is disabled, try to move it from the road and onto the shoulder.

Also, never pass a snow plow or snow plow train.  Stay behind the plows.
