FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) - Guns are a way of life for some people.
They see increased and stricter government controls as a threat, which could account for today's run on guns at The Gun Center in Frederick, Maryland. Owner Bill Kelly told a potential customer on the phone, "Everbody in the country is buying guns and I've got a storeful of customers who all want to buy the same type of firearm you want."
Kelly, holding an assault rifle, told 9News' Scott Broom, "In Maryland, this is a cash and carry gun." Which means that gun can be bought with a basic instant background check and no waiting period.
Customer Jeff Snowden, shopping for a handgun, said he wanted to make sure he would be able to get the gun he was looking for, and added that the Newtown tragedy "didn't change my thinking, it clarified it."
