GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WUSA) -- Maryland State Police is searching for the driver responsible for a fatal hit and run on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.
The victim, 71-year-old Henry Smith, was walking on the parkway at about 3 a.m. on Saturday when the car struck him and didn't stop. A trooper found Smith lying on the ground in the fast lane of I-295, he was pronounced dead on the scene.
Police say the description of the car is unknown at the time but pieces of the vehicle were left behind and are being examined.
Smith lived alone in Laurel, Md. but police are attempting to collect additional information from relatives as to why he may have been walking in the area at that time.
