NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. (WUSA) -- The long road to Sandy's recovery meant a long wait on Thursday, New York commuters faced a choice of standing in lines for buses--or trying to get to work on their own.

New York City crews are working to get all subway tracks clear and more trains running. There's plenty of gasoline in the Superstorm-battered Northeast --  it's just not at gas stations. Drivers in parts of New York and New Jersey have been waiting in long lines to fill up their gas tanks while millions of gallons of gasoline sit at the ready in storage tanks, pipelines and tankers.

9News' Kristin Fisher was out at National Harbor where Dominion Virginia Power is deploying thousands of skilled workers to assist in the recovery. Find out more about the deployment in the video above.
