Police: Armed Robbers Take Dirt Bike, Take Off

BROOKLYN PARK, Md. (WUSA) - A man who listed a dirt bike for sale on Craigslist was the victim of two suspects who displayed a handgun and took off with the dirt bike, according to Anne Arundel County police.

On Oct. 11 at 10:40 p.m., police responded to the report of a robbery that took place in the 100 block of Zeppelin Ave. The male victim, 23, told officers that after he had listed his Honda
Honda dirt bike for sale on Craigslist, he received a call from a potential buyer. They arranged to meet at the Zepplin Ave residence, where the two discussed the sale. When the victim unloaded the dirt bike for the potential buyer to see, a second person joined the buyer, who asked take the bike for a test drive.

When the victim said he would need money first, the potential buyer went into the home, allegedly to get money, and returned with a handgun. Both suspects then demanded the dirt bike. They left and were last seen pushing it up the road.

The victim drove to a convenience store in the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway to call the police, who searched the area for the dirt bike and the suspects, but were unsuccessful in locating either.

The suspects are described as two black males in their teens with short hair, wearing dark clothing
 Police remind those conducting such a transaction to obtain and confirm a name and telephone number from the buyer or seller, and when going to a location to buy or sell online item, park in a high traffic area such as a shopping center, preferably during daylight hours, and have an adult witnesses accompany you to the location.
