FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) -- A man reportedly slowed his car down to offer a student at a bus stop a ride to school on Tuesday morning, and Frederick County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident.

Frederick County Sheriff's Office authorities say that school administrators notified them of the suspicious incident, which happened shortly after 6:10 a.m.

A resident told police a man was driving a dark colored, 4-door sedan. He slowed to speak to a student who was waiting at a bus stop on Pleasant Walk Road.  He repeatedly asked the student if she wanted a ride to school and told the student told him no several times.

The student then ran inside her home, authorities say, and the man drove away.

The driver was described as a white male with a lean build, who is between 30 and 40 years old.

Sheriff's office authorities say they are stepping up their presence in the area.  They ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff's Office at 301-600-1046.
