COLLEGE PARK, Md. (WUSA) ---  Capstone On-Campus Management confirms bedbugs inside three units of South Campus Commons apartments at the University of Maryland.

Four students living inside South Campus Commons 7 tell 9NEWS the bedbug problem has been plaguing their unit for weeks. Aditi Kalotra says she and her roommates have been meeting with Capstone On-Campus Management, the company in charge of the apartments.

Friday's 1 p.m. meeting with David McGarvey, Assistant Director of Operations, was more satisfactory than previous meetings, according to the students.

"He had a pen and paper and he wrote down what we're saying. He listened to our complaints, whereas we felt previously they were more accusatory. They weren't listening to our complaints. But this time...he's going to communicate with the exterminators," says Turna Mekherje.

Still, the students say they are not satisfied that no alternative housing or financial compensation has been offered.

"This is affecting our living situation and our quality of life," says Jennifer Chu.

Alton Irwin, Chief Marketing Officer of Capstone On-Campus Management gave a response to 9NEWS saying:

"We will continue to follow our established protocol for responding to residents who notify us of bedbugs in their units."

Irwin continued that Capstone will work with the third-party exterminator on the bedbug cases.

Still, students harbor growing frustrations as they must keep clothes inside plastic bags and upturn their furniture.

"We've also heard of a lot of other cases where treatment has gone on longer than planned and people have just ended up moving out because the problem never got solved. So we're just really stressed out about that because we don't know if it's going to be six weeks or longer or what to expect, really," says Raevathi Ramadorai.
