Police Find 100 Suspected Marijuana Plants In Va. Home

CULPEPER, VA (WUSA) - Police found more than 100 suspected marijuana plants growing in a 47-year-old Culpeper man's basement on Wednesday.

Police say James P. Berry faces felony charges of possession with intent to distribute more than five pounds of marijuana and manufacturing marijuana not for personal use in his single-story home on the 300 block of Wayland Road.

According to police, they received a search warrant after receiving a tip about a possible large-scale indoor marijuana "grow" operation.


Police say the home had a trap door leading from the main house to the basement and all the basement windows and door had been barricaded.

According to police, they found more than $1,500 in cash, an electric generator and a wise-screen plasma TV in addition to an estimated $300,000 in marijuana.
