ST. MARY'S COUNTY, Md. (WUSA) - A female suspect has been charged with providing prescription medication to an inmate when both were in the same court waiting room, according to St. Mary's County authorities.

Marsha Charlene Wilkerson, 35, of Brandywine, Md., had been detained on an open warrant while she was in court, according to a police investigation.

Vice/Narcotics detectives and correctional staff began to work together after an inmate, who had been in the same court waiting room as Wilkerson, began exhibiting signs she was under the influence of some type of narcotic upon her return from court. The inmate was given a urinalysis test which confirmed she was under the influence of "Oxycodone" even though she had been incarcerated since the month of June.

The investigation revealed that Wilkerson and the female inmate were confined to the same room while waiting for court to adjourn. While the two waited together, Wilkerson gave the female inmate a quantity of prescription medication which she ingested.

Detectives obtained a search and seizure warrant for Wilkerson's person as it a believed she was hiding additional controlled substances. Recovered were 22 Oxycodone, 4 Morphine pills, 3.5 Methadone pills and 10.5 Alprazolam pills.

Wilkerson was charged, and additional charges are pending against both her and the inmate after a State's Attorney review.
