FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WUSA) -- A Spotsylvania County man is charged with malicious wounding after he allegedly stabbed his wife in the chest on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say deputies responded to a home on Antler Road for a reported stabbing at approximately 3:17 p.m. They found Dawn hacker bleeding profusely from the right side of her chest. They immediately started to begin first aid. She was then flown to Mary Washington Hospital for treatment for a collapsed lung.
They were told that her husband, Jerry Hacker, had stabbed her after an argument turned into a physical fight. Jerry Hacker was found in the driveway and taken into custody.
He has been charged with malicious wounding and is being held without bond, say authorities.
Detectives collected evidence from the scene and determined the couple had been arguing for days and alcohol played a part in the stabbing.
