Cause Sought For Mel's Liquors Fire In Howard County

JESSUP, Md. (WUSA) -- Howard County fire officials say shortly after 4:30 a.m. Monday, crews responded to Mel's Liquors in Jessup after receiving reports of a fire. 

Firefighters who arrived at the location in the 7900 block of Waterloo Road found heavy flames and smoke. They were able to bring the bulk of the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes but it took an hour to completely extinguish the blaze, say officials.

Crews are still on the scene to make sure there are no hot spots.

No one was injured, say fire officials.

investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.

Waterloo Road at the Dorsey Run Road-Oceano Drive intersection was closed for approximately two hours but the roads have reopened to traffic .
