Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department Arrest Student After Bomb Threat At Massaponax High School

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WUSA) -- A 17-year-old student has been taken into custody after sending in a bomb threat to Massaponax High School. 

At about 11:25 a.m. on Tuesday Spotsylvania Sheriff's Department responded to reports of a bomb threat at the high school located at 8201 Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Fredericksburg, Va.

Authorities say a student approached the school officer after receiving a bomb threat  via text message. The school was placed on immediate lock down and the students were taken to a secure location.

Several bomb sniffing dogs responded from Spotsylvania, Stafford, Fauquier and Dulles Airport to assist with searching the school. No bomb was found and no students were injured.

The male student that was taken into custody was enrolled at Massaponax and charged with making a bomb threat. The student was not on school grounds at the time of the threat.
