Police seeking person of interest in the July homicide of Darryl Sweet of Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -  Police are asking the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest in connection to the homicide of Darryl Sweet, in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE.

On July 26, 2012, at approximately 10:06 pm, fire and EMS personnel responded to the report of an intoxicated male. They found an adult male unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Detectives from the Homicide Branch responded to the hospital to investigate where it was determined the man was suffering from an internal head wound. He was pronounced dead on July 27.

The man has been identified as 61-year-old Darryl Eugene Sweet Sr. of Southeast. The Chief Medical Examiner's autopsy revealed the cause of death and the death was ruled a homicide by blunt force trauma to the head.
