UPPER MARLBORO, MD (WUSA)--In a statement released Saturday, Prince George's County Superintendent of Schools William Hite said he had been named a finalist for the job of Superintendent of the Philadelphia School District.

Dr. Hite goes on to say that he had been approached with job offers many times in the past but always turned them down.  This time, Dr. Hite said, he and wis wife believed this was an opportunity they had to explore.

The Prince George's County Board of Education said that they would be sorry to see Dr. Hite go but that they are committed to continuing with the progress made so far and that the offer made to Dr. Hite was validation of that progress.
