FAIRMONT HEIGHTS, Md. (WUSA) -- A late night complaint to police reporting the sound of gunshots in a Prince George's County community led to an overnight shooting involving an officer.
Corporal Larry Johnson, spokesman for the Prince George's County Police Department, says the officers investigating the gunshots responded to the 5600 block of Kolb Street in Fairmont Heights just before 11:40 Thursday night. At some point afterward their arrival, there was a confrontation with man who was shot by at least one of the officers. Cpl. Johnson confirms the man was taken to a local hospital with an non-life-threatening injury.
According to Cpl. Johnson, no officers were injured in the incident.
Right now police are not releasing any further details on what exactly led to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.
