Transgender Woman Stabbed At DC Bus Stop

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WUSA) -  A transgender woman (a man living as a woman) was stabbed in the head at a bus stop in the 4100 block of East Capitol St. NE on Thursday night.

According to MPD, the stabbing took place at 8:17 p.m.

Dan Stessel with Metro Transit said the stabbing happened at the bus stop on East Capitol St NE and Sycamore Rd. NE. Passersby flagged down a Metro Transit Police oficer who aided the victim. The officer, as well as arriving MPD officers, thought the victim was a woman.

The victim was taken to PG Hospital Center in grave condition. Stessel, quoting Metro Transit investigators, said the victim was placed on the operating table, and was discovered to be a man.

There is no motive for the stabbing at this time. The suspect is a black male in his 40's with a black and white striped hat and a black coat.
