WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Fires and significant property damage have contributed to a massive recall of certain dehumidifiers.
Sears, Roebuck and Co. and Kmart Corp are calling back about 795,000 Kenmore dehumidifiers. There have been 107 incidents linked to the units, including three for smoke inhalation injuries.
And, all told, they've contributed to more than $7 million in damages.
You'll know if one of these are in your home by checking several things. First, these are white plastic dehumidifiers. They were sold in 35-, 50-, and 70-pint versions.
Here are some numbers to check for on the devices.
*35-pint (2004) - 580.54351400
*50-pint (2003) - 580.53509300
*70-pint (2003) - 580.53701300
*70-pint (2004) - 580.54701400
*70-pint (2005) - 580.54701500
WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE, HOW TO FIND SERIAL NUMBERS
If you have one, Sears says unplug it, and stop using it immediately.
Sears will issue gift cards for between $75 and $100 based on the size and age of the unit. Owners are also able to apply for a refund.
