BETHESDA, Md., (WUSA) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled about 8,000 Yu Wei drop side cribs.
The crib's drop-side rail can detach or fall down unexpectedly and create a space where an infant or toddler can roll and become wedge or entrapped.
The malfunction can cause a child to fall out of the crib, suffocate or strangle.
The CPSC says there have been nine incidents of where the rails malfunctioned and one report of minor abrasions to a child's arm.
The Yu Wei full size cribs were sold exclusively at jcpenney.com under the names of Scroll, model #343-8225 and Lauren, model #343-9117, for between $300 and $450.
Consumers should stop using these recalled cribs immediately and contact the company at (877) 806-8190 to receive a free immobilizer kit.
Or you can visit the Yu Wei website, www.yuweicribrecalls.com for more information.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission wants you to know that it is illegal to resell a recalled product.
