WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- This is a day off for nearly 115,000 federal workers, a four-day weekend that some of them probably don't want to take.
Friday is an unpaid day, thanks to sequestration. The employees are taking furlough days due to those forced spending cuts that kicked in March 1.
The IRS, Department of Housing and Urban Development, EPA and White House Budget Office will all be closed Friday. This is the first agency shut down since 1996 when the entire federal government closed down for several weeks over Congressional budget fights.
