  • WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- WUSA 9's Bruce Johnson is back at the Supreme Court on Wednesday to cover the second same sex marriage case concerning the Defense Of Marriage Act.

DOMA is the federal law defining marriage as between a man and a woman as well as denying federal benefits to legally married same sex couples.  An estimated 1100 benefits were denied to same sex married couples under DOMA, reports Johnson.

The Obama Administration is enforcing DOMA but won't defend it at the Supreme Court; House GOP will, reports Johnson.

Johnson says pro and anti-gay groups are standing off peacefully in front of the court on Wednesday morning. Meanwhile, reporters from all over are gathered in the Supreme Court press room before moving into the courtroom.
