WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The White House and Congress move one day closer to those massive forced budget cuts that start going into effect at the end of next week.

Most recently, the President reached out to congressional Republican leaders to try and kick start negotiations on the sequester.

Congress has been on recess this week and when they get back next week, they'll have four days to work out a deal.

Delia Goncalves has more updates from Capitol Hill.
