WASHINGTON (AP) - Early voting is set to resume in the District of Columbia after being halted for two days because of Superstorm Sandy.

The D.C. Board of Elections says early voting will start at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, and the hours will be extended until 9 p.m. at all locations through Saturday.

The extended hours are intended to help people who could not vote because of long lines on Saturday and the suspension of early voting Monday and Tuesday.

The storm brought heavy rain, intense winds and power outages but not much flooding to the nation's capital.
