GREAT FALLS, Va. (WUSA9) -- Fairfax County fire officials say a house in Great Falls was completely destroyed in a fire this weekend.
A fire broke out at the 12,000-square-foot home in the 1000 block of Leigh Mill Road at approximately 2:10 a.m. Sunday, according to fire officials. A man was able to safely escape from a nearby guest house, say officials.
Fire was showing from all three floors when firefighters arrived, according to officials. They called for additional firefighters and a tanker force because the home was in a non-hydrant area. Officials say firefighters used a water shuttling operation and dammed a nearby creek for additional water.
No one was injured during the incident, say officials.
According to fire officials, the $1.13 million was a complete loss but firefighters were able to save the pool house and guest home.
