MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- One man received injuries and 13 people have been displaced after a townhouse fire in Manassas on Friday afternoon.

Fire officials say at least 50 firefighters in total responded to the scene in the 8600 block of Carlton Drive in the Point of Woods subdivision.

Manassas Volunteer Fire Company reports that the incident was initially dispatched as a box alarm for fire. The first firefighters on the scene saw smoke and fire coming from a two-story home. Two alarms were called when fire extended to the home beside it, according to fire officials. A third home suffered smoke damage.

Officials say the bulk of the fire is knocked down in 45 minutes.

Fire officials tell us that five occupants of the end unit escaped the fire. A man in a second unit smelled smoke and was burned on his hands when he tried to open the back door, according to officials.

Thirteen people are now without a home, say fire officials.

We hope to have more details here soon.
