STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- U. S. Customs and Border Protection at Washington Dulles International Airport have arrested two alleged child sex offenders this week.
Eric Adrian Puig, 42, of Enoch, Utah arrived on a flight from Dubai, United Arab Emirates on April 9 after which he was arrested. Puig had an arrest warrant for rape of a minor. David Mendieta, 59, of Silver Spring, Md. arrived on a flight from Panama City, Panama on April 11. There was an arrest warrant for Mendieta for multiple charges of sexual abuse on a child, officials said.
"The United States is a welcoming nation," said Christopher Hess CBP Port Director for the Port of Washington. "And CBP is committed to facilitating legitimate travel; however we stand ever vigilant in identifying those travelers that our laws identify as needing further scrutiny," he said in a press release.
